4 1/2 Cups boiling water per 1 cup of grits. Stir grits into the water and cook for 12-15 minutes. Stir occasionally, cover, and simmer until done.
Ingredients:
Combine cornmeal, oil, buttermilk, and egg in bowl, mix well. Pour a small amount of additional oil into cast iron skillet. Preheat skillet in 450 degree oven. Sprinkle a small amount of cornmeal over bottom of skillet. Pour in cornmeal batter. Bake at 450 to 500 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Mix dry ingredients. Add onion and then buttermilk. Add beaten egg. Form into balls and drop in hot grease from spoon.
