The gristmill can be transported. We feed whole-kernel corn into the mill, where it gets beaten. It typically takes three rounds through the mill to crush it into fine cornmeal. Some of the product from the mill is then fed into the second part of the machine that processes grits. It can be a little noisy, but very interesting to watch. We typically bring the mill to larger events, such as the KY Wool Fest.
We offer yellow and white corn products. When available, we also carry popcorn grits.
We use non-GMO corn.
The basics of these farming practices are to protect the soil of the land. It involves rotating the cattle regularly (once a day for us) to keep the grass from being eaten into the ground. This also allows the grass to pull more carbon into the ground, improving biodiversity and eliminating the need for fertilizer.
After farming beef cattle for years, a friend mentioned regenerative farming concepts to Michael. Michael took some time to research and quickly felt that these farming principles were best for our farm's future and our animal's health.
